We are Shelley Dyer-Gibbins and Susan Ayton—two local artists who share a deep belief in the power of art to transform, connect, and enrich lives. Inspired by the creative energy in our village and the incredible talent that surrounds us, we founded the Pilton Art Society to create something meaningful for our community: a welcoming, inclusive space where art in all its forms can flourish.
Rooted in community, open to the world, Pilton is a village with a rich cultural heritage and a spirit of creativity that deserves to be celebrated and shared.
Our goal is to:
• Welcome new neighbours into a thriving cultural hub.
• Support and showcase local artists of all ages and disciplines.
• Bring the wider art world to Pilton, through guest lectures, artist demonstrations, and partnerships with national institutions. We believe everyone should have the opportunity to experience the joy of the arts—whether you’re creating, learning, or simply appreciating.
What Drives Us
As practicing artists ourselves, we’ve seen first-hand how art can:
• Build friendships and communities.
• Inspire curiosity and lifelong learning.
• Offer space for expression, reflection, and connection.
We created this society because we want to share that gift with others.
Through art workshops, lectures, visits, and community art events, we hope to nurture a space where people feel uplifted, inspired, and truly at home.
Join Us - This is just the beginning—and we’d love for you to be part of it. Whether you’re a maker, a thinker, or someone who simply loves being around creativity, the Pilton Art Society is for you.
With the added benefit of access to the National Arts Society’s programme of events, there’s a whole world of artistic inspiration waiting.
We do all the things you would expect to find in a lively branch of an Arts Society. Each year the lecture programme covers a variety of subjects, from fine arts to architecture, ceramics to literature, music and demonstrations which are run from various local venues. Various group art tours are also arranged throughout the year.
If you would like to find out more about our programme, or any other of our activities, drop us an email.
